clix?
All the sick people were back today. So for the first time our little room was full. But still only 6 people all in all. That's not too bad. The only person I hadn't seen before was Lars. He was sort of loud and joking, which makes him my least favourite of the people there. So far. Not that he wasn't nice, I just prefer the more quiet types. Sanne came to see how I was doing with the flyer. She lets me work on my own quite a lot. Independently. That's sort of nice, that she doesn't have to hover over me and watch that I'm not messing anything up. I just get to sit and work on the flyer, to make it how I want it. Of course she'll have to give it an okay before it goes to the printer, so even if I do mess something up it's not the end of the world. Anyway, she told me that there had been some sort of mix up. It turns out they're not getting funding from the government for me. That's how they stay in business, they get people like me in for 3-6 months typically. And they get funding from the government for every person they have. But I'm not eligible for that apparently. So that means they basically can't afford me. At that point I was afraid she'd kick me outta there. But they want to keep me, so I still get to stay till the end of the year. That's 2 months. I was supposed to be there for 3. It's not really that bad. She was quite apologetic but I was focusing more on something else she told me. They have christmas vacation from the 17th. Sweeeeet. I'm very happy with that. So that means I will be working at Kulturgygen for 6 weeks now. Then I will have 2 weeks vacation. Then I will go to see Skye for another week's vacation. And then after that I guess I will be returning to the Reva center. Maybe we'll get a library internship going then. But I'm okay with that. Six weeks is still enough to get me some good experience with the dtp work, and for me to get more used to staying my full hours. One of the reasons why Sanne wasn't happy with it was that I'm doing pretty well. She seemed very pleased with what I've done so far, so for selfish reasons she wanted to keep me longer too. Wow, that's almost a compliment isn't it? My boss actually wanting me to stay because I do good work. I did not see that coming. Well, I've only been there 2 days so I'm sure I can still screw up everything and make her want to get rid of me. But yes, it does feel good. That I seem to be managing this okay. I hope I can keep it up. Would you like to see the place? I hope so cause I took a buncha pictures. Just remember that they aren't meant to look good, I just quickly took some shots before too many people noticed me. Let's start from the outside. this is what it looks like. Pardon the postal van, I didn't have time to wait for it to leave. It was freeeezing cold outside. But there it is, number 53. Gyngen. And if you go inside then you will be in the yard. Like I have mentioned, Kulturgyngen has lots of different things going on. The Kultursats ad agency part where I work are the windows next to the bench, under the tree. While on the other side of the court yard there is a receptionist area, and upstairs is the café/restaurant. And through the walkway there is the music scene. Inside Kultursats there are 6 computers, for 6 people funnily enough. The left part of the room is where I sit. You can see my computer there on the left. Obscured by that is Jan's computer. He sits on the other side of our table. And behind us there is Sanne's desk and computer. And to the right on that desk is Lars's computer. And more over to the right of the room is Christian's computer. And finally the last computer, Poul Erik's, is behind me. That's the only really uncomfortable part. Poul Erik sits there right behind me and although I know he's busy working with his stuff it's still sometimes hard to shake that "he's staring at my back!" feeling. It also means I can't look at porn in my breaks. So that's horrible. Ahem. Behind Sanne and Lars we have the poster wall upon which hangs several of the posters they have designed there. You can't really see them too well, but there they are. And a closeup of my little space. It's early in the morning and my coat has just been thrown on the chair. And if you want to get even closer, this is what I'm working on. Fascinating, isn't it? Usually their flyers will look exactly the same every month apart from the colour and of course the calendar bit with the booked acts. But because it's December there will be a little extra on it. Last year they had white dots for snow. This year they'll have yellow dots for stars. Well, that's the plan anyway. A December night with stars. I'm not sure the stars are going to stay like that. Just me experimenting. I'll see what Sanne has to say about it all. You will notice the row of black clocks on the left. I had to make white clocks because of the black background. But I wasn't sure if I would be keeping the black background so I put all the black clocks on the left in case I'd need them again. Also the big yellow circle is what the stars are made of. Love is in the details. Or something. I'm glad I caught my typo in "black clocks". Whoaboy, that would have been an x-rated entry. But that's it. Hope you enjoyed the tour. Remind me to tell you about the water pipes tomorrow. Now it's getting very late and I really must sleep. These are tired days. Nitey nite, December stars. soundtrack: ... ...reminds me of the cork soaker sketch from snl back and forth clix
