clix?

Sunday's social satire has been cancelled for this:

Dear Long John Silver,

I'm sorry it has been so long since my last letter. Things have been crazy around here what with hard drives failing, 1000th entry celebrations and general noisy love making. But you know all too well. How's life on the high seas treating you these days?

I finally found time to write back to you today. I have had nothing else to do really. I know that when you're out pirating it doesn't matter if it's Sunday or Thursday. But I'm not a pirate any more. I have had quite an empty, boring Sunday. Copying some files on my hard drive (no, no pirate copies!) and watching some videos. The kind of day that just makes you itch to get outside and board some frigates. But since there are no frigates about in the calm waters I now call home I will write to you instead.

Yes, it's much different here in civilized society. I don't have any excuses to hunt squirrels here. It's different for you. With the wooden leg and all. People just don't know what they're talking about when they say that squirrels don't hurt nobody.

Sometimes I dream of joining you again, Silver. More adventures under the clear blue skies, sailing the seas. I often think back to the good times we had and wonder why I was so eager to get back on land. I tell you, the setting sun is not nearly as beautiful here as it is from the mast of your good sturdy vessel.

I swear I can still feel the swaying of the ship in a storm. If this ground is so firm, then why will it not stand still?

It matters not. Time has come for me to go. I will write again soon. And send you another piece of the treasure map too. Once I have dealt with the hard drive situation I'll hook up my printer and get it done. Don't be impatient. Think of the wealths you will get. They'll call you Long John Gold for sure!

May the wind be in your sails, friend.

Yours truly,

Plume Yellowbeard
