Trust in me

A couple of really great things happened today. At the playground, of course.

First off, I picked up Magnet. And held him. Aww. He is so lovely.

About time too. He's growing and growing. Soon he'll be so big that you can't lift him anymore. He was standing up on a sort of ledge, looking for a way down. He would have found a way of course, and it wasn't that high up anyway. He probably could have jumped down from there. But I thought it was a good excuse to pick him up. Held him for a little. And then put him down on the ground.

That was very sweet. The last time I experienced anything like that was when Skye's dog Sascha sat on my lap in the car.

Wonderful.

The second thing was maybe even better.

I was walking around with the goats. Petting Mathilde a lot.

She was being sweet. Coming up to me. Sniffing my hands. Nibbling at my coat. She finally worked up the courage to do that. And then one of the supervisors came up and talked to me. Not Kurt. Another one. I think his name is Peter. I talked to him about how I had a lot of pictures now, how Magnet was growing, how Mathilde was very shy. And then he told me that she didn't trust anyone else like she trusted me. Aww my goodness. That's very special to me. I didn't just imagine that we had a connection. It is a special connection. She trusts me more than anyone.

That's amazing to me. I hadn't seen her let anyone else pet her on the body, but then I'm not up there all the time. I figured at least the supervisors she would trust. But I guess it paid off to spend time with her. It's much easier to have fun with Mads or adore Magnet. But I just think it's incredible sweet to have this connection with Mathilde. That I can do that. A year ago I had practically no experience with animals. Now a little girl tells me that she thinks the animals love me and a supervisor tells me that Mathilde trusts me more than anyone.

Maybe I'm making too big a deal out of it. But it IS a big deal to me. I love it.

I don't want to go all Freud and over analyze it but maybe the fact that in the "human world" I'm the shy one, I'm the one who tries to avoid contact, maybe that's why I made the effort to get to know Mathilde. We shy people have to stick together.

I must try not to let it go to my head hehe. It's not like I'm Dr Doolittle.

It just makes me happy.

Had fun with the sheepies too.

White wanted a glimpse of the outside world.

They were quite adventurous today. Mama was tied up in the hills but the lambs went all by themselves over to the stables.

Far away from their mother. They started baahing. I assume they were calling out for mama. Mathilde heard it and started looking for the source. I wonder if she thought it was Magnet? Would be strange though, because Magnet was very close by. When she saw that it was just the lambs baahing, she lost interest.

You should hear Black. He has quite the set of lungs. I think he baahs louder than both Mads and Mathilde. White isn't anywhere near as loud. In fact when he baahs it sounds sort of like that spotty teenager from the Simpsons. Figuratively speaking. It's like his voice breaks. It's awfully cute.

That was cute too. It almost looked like they were mating. Black was walking along for a few metres and White was almost trying to climb on top of him. They're sweet. They come up to me too when they see me. Nibble at my pants and shoes and coat. It's extremely sweet when you have two little lambs coming up and crowding you, sniffing you.

One kid with Magnet. Most of them were on the field, playing ball.

Mads once again confirmed that he's the king of climbing:

Although Magnet is starting to challenge him.

Hehe. A week ago he couldn't make it up on the benches by himself. But he's growing and learning.

I don't think Mads will give up his throne easily though. He can climb anything in sight and he still outweighs Magnet by a lot.

And finally a couple of pictures of Magnet having lunch.

Yummy!

I love my animal kindom.

sic.

Happy weekend to you all.

back and forth
