nobody tosses a dwarf

I'm late, I'm late. I've been copying files and talking to Skye instead of writing. Now I must quickly summize my day.

I get up. Feel quite tired. I hit snooze. Then turn off the alarm. I always hit snooze first. Even though I don't snooze. I don't trust myself to get up again. It's a miracle I woke up the first time, it would be tempting fate to rely on the alarm clock to wake me a second time.

Faster, boy, faster!

Well, my day is quickly done I guess. Only one thing out of the ordinary. I went shrimp shopping in Kvickly. Stopped by the bank and got some cash. They have a new machine. How rude of them to change things so my old routines are now invalid. But I coped. I just don't like getting cash from a machine outside the bank. It reminds me of Fresh Prince when Will got mugged. Or was it Carlton? Anyway, it's a law of nature that people get mugged at cash machines. I think

No, but my point is. I bought Lord of the Rings. And Planet of the Apes. Funny, it just struck me how those two titles are so alike in structure. Cosmic. I got lotr because me wants bad. And pota because it was cheap. Of course I had to get the actual lotr cassette in the kiosk. In the Kvickly supermarket itself you only get the box. it's a safety precaution. So I go to the kiosk to get the cassette to go with my pretty Lord of the Rings box. And they don't have any left. So the nice lady goes to the back to find it. What does that mean to me? It means I miss my bus. By 2-3 minutes. Dangit. Okay, it's only half an hour of my life I miss. But I could have wasted that half hour on so many more interesting things than just standing outside in the cold looking at cars going by. I could have slept! Slept! And dreamt of kitties and snow. Stupid busses. They're never late when you want them to be.

That's not nearly fast enough.

At home I set the computer to decompress shns and compress wavs and then I go watch Lord of the Rings.

I loved it. Beautiful. That story is so classic. It's been in my life for so long. Not just the books but just everywhere. Maybe the movie wasn't perfect all the time. But I think I'm lucky that it's been a long time since I read the books. So I didn't sit and think "that's so wrong, that shouldn't happen, she shouldn't look like that". But at the same time I knew it all, all the places and Tolkish words. The story is familiar but not dominating so I can watch the movie and feel at home without constantly comparing the two. I'm not sure the movie would have been as good if I'd just read the books last night. Or if I'd never read them at all. But then I can't know of course. There were only two things that were really different from how I pictured it. The Hobbits themselves. For some reason I've always thought of them as some sort of red-skinned. I knew they weren't. But still. I think it comes from some halflings from old sword & sorcery books I used to love as a kid. I know they were supposed to be so human-looking. And then the Balrog. It was so mean and violent. I remember a picture of it in some old rpg book. The Middle Earth roleplaying game. It looked more silly than mean. With big bat wings and a pig-like face I think. Not nearly as frightening as in the movie.

I loved the Shire. I so want to live there. So beautiful and peaceful. And I'm pretty short. Skye is too. I bet we could live in a Hobbit hole. An expanded one. Maybe I should move to New Zealand when I grow up. Or just Zealand. I'm only a couple of hours away from there.

Viggo Mortensen was cool. I know he's only half Danish. But I think he captures our fine viking spirits. Give me a sword and I could be Aragorn. A short version of Aragorn. Like the Hobbit version of Aragorn.

Yup. I enjoyed the movie a great deal. Even better than the old cartoon version hehe. Now I just have to wait for episode 2. And for it to come to Denmark. And for it to be released on video.

That was my day. I want to live in a fantasy story where hard drives don't fail. Take me away, my faery princess.
