A long day's night

Phew. Long day. First days are always long.

Got up early, but wasn't really too tired. That was good. Took an early bus so I would have enough time to find Kulturgyngen. Never been there by bus before of course.

On the bus I was listening to my mp3 player. When I was getting close to my destination Remy Zero came on. Somebody saaaaave me. Quite appropriate for how I was feeling. Equal bits despair and dread. Being paranoid that it would go horribly wrong and I would feel bad and my future would be in the drains.

And then off at the bus. Down by the harbour. Where they walk like giant cranes.

I like the harbour. I like that the sea is right there. I want to go look at it. One of these days. Maybe I will swim away.

I was in good time so I walked around a little to see where the place was and what the best route from the bus stop would be. It was very close to the bus stop actually. I can definitely take the later bus and be there on time. I don't know about biking though. Lots of traffic and little roads and complicationing. But I'll see later.

Then I went in. To Kulturgyngen. To KulturSats more precisely. That's the ad agency part. They have the music hall and cafeteria and various other things too. But it's not really a very big place nonetheless. I remembered the Kultursats room as being very small and I was worried about sitting in a small place with nowhere to hide and other people everywhere. But it was a little bigger than I recalled. And two people were out sick today. So there were only 3 people there. Sanne, the woman I had met with when Knud Erik and I visited. And then Christian and Poul Erik. They seemed nice. Knud Erik had "warned me" about Poul Erik. That he was strange. Not in a bad way or anything. He seemed like an okay, pretty quiet guy. Christian seemed fun. I sat down with Sanne and she started showing me how to do stuff. And just as Sanne was explaining something to me Christian said out loud "that's a lie!". Weirdo. Haha. He was nice though. We talked a little. Meaning he asked me something and I tried to answer so as not to make it too apparent that I'm silent, shy, socially phobic. I am sure it's quite obvious already that I'm the quiet type. But at least I said something.

But anyway, I pretty much went right to work. Sanne showed me to my computer. We renamed the file folder from Birgitte to Plume. Birgitte is the girl who left, opening spot for me. Basically the job is to make a monthly flyer and poster for Kulturgyngen. Advertising the bands and arrangements they have. So we're doing the one for December now. Sanne gave me a piece of paper that pretty much described how to do it all, step by step. And then we did a test drive. Going through the paper, I did all the stuff and she showed me the different things. And when that was done I just got to work on the flyer itself. The deadline for the flyer and poster is November 23rd. I almost finished the flyer today. Have to find a colour and put the last bits together. But I can't see it taking very long. Sanne seemed impressed with me. I just wonder what I'll be doing if the poster doesn't take longer either. I don't think I'll be too good at the really creative design stuff they do. But I'm sure they'll find something for me to do. Probably. Oh and according to the flyer they close down on December 19th. I really hope that means the Kultursats place closes down too. That would be sweet. I'd have two weeks vacation BEFORE going on vacation with Skye. I would love that a lot. That would be perfect. I'm crossing my fingers.

The day went by with that. Setting up the flyer. Time went slowly, yet I made it through without too much bother. Five hours is a long time for me. I'm not really used to staying that long at all. But I had stuff to do so that makes a lot of difference. And it was only the last hour or so that I started yawning and losing concentration.

I got myself an employee card too. So I can get a discount in their cafeteria. And also I can get free entry to their concerts. Even bigger concerts at the Train discotheque in town too. That's a big place. Tina Dickow has played there. So that might come in handy some time.

But that was pretty much it. I was afraid it would be bad and I would have 3 months of hell ahead of me. But it went quite well. It might be a little harder when the two sick guys come back and I have more people around me. But other than that the only concern is whether they'll have enough work for me, but I'm sure they can dig up stuff. So it was a positive experience. It went a lot better than I had thought it would really. And like Sanne said, "Everybody should start at their new work on a Friday, so you have that weekend waiting right away". That's a good thing. Now I can have some weekend. I have earned it I think. It's been a big week, lots of things to deal with. But I think I have dealt with them okay. Especially the flight booking and the new work. Seems to have worked out okay.

Boy am I tired though. And there are still plenty of things to deal with. Medication, glasses, fitness equipment. Just to name a few.

A Plume's work is never done.
