Aaah. Sleeping. Sleeping in even. Good stuff.

I got my games today. Cheap and second hand. And it showed. Fallout 1+2 was tiny package with no printed documentation. Ultima 8's box was all torn and taped back together again. But it's no matter. I got the manual, that's what I wanted. And Baldur's Gate will come later. And maybe I can have fun with roleplaying games then. To pass the nights.

I've been thinking and reading a lot about the Ultima games and it made me want to have a go at Ultima 7 again. So I got my old discs and tried to install. But it kept saying there was an error with the F: drive. I don't think it could handle the fact that I have 3 hard drives, one floppy drive and one cd drive. So I gave up on that. Then I hunted around and found a warez site where I could download it. Well, they called it abandonwarez but I'm pretty sure that U7 isn't abandoned. But I got it down (I will die if I ever have to go back to 56k) and unzipped it. And then when I tried running it I was told that it had to run in dos mode and I had to shut all other programs down. Dammit. I wanted to play around with u7 in the background while I was doing other stuff with the computer. I'm no DOS expert, I don't know if I could change its settings or something.

And to top it all off I couldn't even run the game in dos mode because I didn't have enough memory. There is a program out there that lets you run ultima in windows but at this point I was getting annoyed so I decided to just fire up my old pc where I have lots of old Ultimas installed.

So I did a little cleanup and I hooked all the cables up and turned it on. And it did nothing. Except say "beep.... beeep.... beeep". It wasn't working. There's a lesson here kids. Don't leave your computer turned off for a year.

But I managed to access the bios (I'm a hardcore tech guy like that) and it turns out it wasn't detecting my hard drive. So I told it to do that. And it started auto-detecting the drive. At that point I figured I would have lost everything on it but when I booted it was all still there. All my old Ultimas. Goodie.

I loaded up Ultima 7 and had a laugh at the old Guardian. Funny guy. I want to play around with u7. Take over a house and redecorate it. Get a family. I'm thinking the kissing fairy from Ambrosia would make a good wife. Hehe.

Oh shut up, it's my time I can do what I want with it.

We got a new chair today. The old one was crumbled and crap. The new one is very white-trash and goes well with the amazingly messy decor we have.

My dad was opening up the double doors to the yard so we could get it inside. And suddenly it started pouring out with eartwigs from a hole in the door. Eek. Eartwigs? Those little insects that like to run into people's ears according to legend? I think they're called eartwigs. I guess they had a nest in there. We haven't had both the doors open in ages. Too many bugs.

And then of course I had to help my dad put the chair together. Because the instructions sucked. If only they had been in some foreign language or something. But no. They were picture illustrations and they still managed to confuse more than they clarified. Brilliant. But I worked it all out. Maybe I am good for something instead of nothing. Maybe.

Don't say I don't do stuff. I do plenty. Goodanite.
